The Del Norte County Recorder has control over recording, filing and the preservation of documents and indicies pertaining to land title within Del Norte County. These duties also include those pertaining to liens or encumbrances on land. Once these documents are recorded, the County Recorder makes this information available for examination by interested parties and issues copies upon request.

Del Norte County was established in 1857

The mountainous terrain associated with the Coastal Range and the Klamath Mountains dominates Del Norte County's geography.

There are 37 miles of coastline in the county, forming a coastal zone that covers approximately 51,000 acres (80 square miles). A broad coastal plain can be found in the northwest portion of the county with the western edge of the Klamath Mountains as its easterly boundary.

Crescent City is the only incorporated city in Del Norte County

Crescent City is the largest city and County seat for Del Norte County.

The State of California has complex recording fees. In addition, each county has their own requirements including separate fees designated to certain cities.
